Office of Continuing Medical Education (OCME) at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine
The purpose of the Office of Continuing Medical Education (OCME) at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is to advance healthcare professionals along their lifelong learning continuum by providing high-quality professional development opportunities that will enhance their ability to provide excellent patient care. The OCME program has been accrediting by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education activities since 1992. Activities produced by the OCME will address content areas which are based on the identified educational gaps of healthcare professionals with an emphasis on clinical diagnosis and management of disease and disorders, updates on the latest research and techniques, and topics on health care delivery systems (e.g., ethical, socioeconomic, political, and legislative issues). The OCME seeks to support the interdisciplinary practice of medicine by providing educational opportunities for healthcare professionals including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals as determined by the specific identified needs related to each activity. We also provide educational opportunities for students and residents in order to enhance and augment their learning experiences knowing they will one day be practicing physicians and part of our target audience. We expect that as a result of participating in our CME activities that learners will be able to deliver improved patient care by applying new knowledge and skills, that will enhance their competence, and improve their performance in practice and/or improve patient outcomes.
Institute for Continuing Healthcare Education
The Institute for Continuing Healthcare Education (The Institute) has been accredited by the ACCME since 1986 to provide continuing medical education to tens of thousands of physicians in a myriad of specialties. The Institute’s purpose is to provide exceptional, cutting-edge, creative, non-biased, and results-oriented medical education to healthcare providers.
